Penguins Beat Canisius and Malone, Fall to
Cleveland State
Results
The Youngstown
State swimming and diving team
picked up its first two dual meet
wins of the season defeating
Canisius, 172-67 and Malone 197-26
on Friday at the Beeghly Natatorium.
The Penguins dropped a 139-102
decision to Cleveland State in the
four-team meet.
Once again,
headlining the winners for the
Penguins included Casey Hill in the
one-meter dive with a score of
250.90. Hill won by a total of .25
over Cleveland State's Kacey
Cummings. Hill won the three-meter
dive with a score of 244.45 with a
little more breathing room over
Cummings - almost four points.
Freshman
Samantha Roberts took home the first
individual event title of her young
career winning the 200-yard
breaststroke in a time of 2:30.90.
Fellow freshman Rachel Tano was
third in the event. To end the night
YSU's Alana Kane, Audy Grubbs,
Kirstin Walker and Nishani Cicilson
won the 400-yard freestyle relay
with a time of 3:41.92 beating
Cleveland State by a
second-and-a-half.
In the 200-yard
freestyle, Walker was second with a
time of 1:57.71 and was followed
Grubbs. Cicilson was second in the
50-yard freestyle with a time of
24.64 seconds.
Caitlin Cook
placed second in the 200-yard
butterfly with a time of 2:14.77,
Walker was narrowly touched out in
the 100-yard free finishing second
with a time of 54.15 seconds.
In the 400-yard
medley relay, the YSU team of Amanda
Ritzenthaler, Samantha Roberts, Cook
and Cicilson placed second.
The Penguins
return to action on Saturday when
they play host to Marshall. The meet
is scheduled to start at 2 p.m. at
the Beeghly Natatorium and will be
carried live on the Horizon League
Network.
