Olivia Arnold, Brad Samsa Named Vindicator Athletes of the Year

    Senior swimmer Olivia Arnold and senior offensive lineman Brad Samsa were named The Vindicator/Youngstown State Athletes of the Year on Thursday night at the 22nd Annual Scholar-Athlete Awards Banquet in the Kilcawley Center.
    Also being honored at the event were recipients of YSU endowed athletic scholarships and  student-athletes who have a cumulative grade-point average of 3.00-or-higher. Release

Arnold, Carpin Recognized as Top Performers at Annual Banquet
     Senior swimmer Olivia Arnold and sophomore diver Amanda Carpin were named the Youngstown State swimming and diving performers of the year. Freshman Katie Wolf received the Most Improved Award, senior Natasha Bray was named the Most Inspirational Athlete while freshman Nishani Cicilson was selected as the Newcomer of the Year. Release
Three Top Six Finishes Help Guins End League Meet on High Note
      Brown Deer, Wis. -- The YSU swimming and diving team used a strong final day performance to overtake Cleveland State for fifth place at the Horizon League Championships at the Schroeder Aquatic Center. The Penguins set three school records and had individuals place in the top six of three events to lead the charge. A fourth-place finish in the 400 freestyle relay held off the Vikings. Williamson Places Fourth in 100 Fly; Sets Two School Marks
      Brown Deer, Wis. – Sophomore Ashley Williamson lowered her fastest time in school history in the 100 yard butterfly to place a strong fourth at the Horizon League Championships on Friday night.
    Williamson also set a school record in the 100 back while Jen Johnstone set a new mark in the 100 yard breaststroke. YSU’s 800-yard freestyle relay team also established a new school record

Arnold Places Seventh, Rupe Ninth at League Championships
     Brown Deer, Wis. – Senior Olivia Arnold continued her strong performance at the Horizon League Championships finishing a career-best seventh place in the 500 freestyle on Thursday at the Walter Schroeder Aquatic Center.
    Arnold placed seventh in the 500 with a time of 5:04.24. In the 50-yard freestyle, junior Megan Rupe placed ninth with a time of 24.21 seconds.
