Women's Tennis
Drops Match to Pitt, 6-1
Pittsburgh, Pa.-- The
Youngstown State women's tennis team
traveled to Pittsburgh to take on
the Panthers on Wednesday afternoon
at Club 4 Life. Pitt swept the
doubles competition and won five of
singles matches. Junior Michelle
Fuleky picked up the Penguins
only point. Fuleky played at No. 2
singles for the first time this
season defeating Leah
Friedman,
3-6, 6-3, 6-3 in the
third set tie-breaker.
In other singles
action, No.
1 Kristy Borza defeated Gina Perreti, 6-0, 6-0.
No. 3
Carlie Smith beat Emily
Thayer, 6-1, 7-6 (5).
No.
4 Sabrina Visram downed Nicole
Haralambopoulo, 6-2, 6-4. No. 5
Annie Davis slipped by Tanisha Welch
7-5, 1-6, 6-1
No. 6
Christie D’achille beat Irena Lanc, 6-4, 6-2.
In doubles,
Borza and Friedman beat Thayer
and Fuleky, 8-0 at the No. 1 spot.
No 2 Davies and D’achille beat
Haralambopoulos and Peretti, 9-7
while No 3 Smith and Visram defeated Welch
and Culbertson, 8-1.
The women's
tennis team will be back action next
week at home to take on Duquesne.
