Women's Tennis
Picks Up Second Straight Shut Out
Against Robert Morris
Boardman, Ohio-- The
Youngstown State women's tennis team
picked up the third win of the
season and the second straight
shut-out against Robert Morris on
Wednesday afternoon at the Boardman
Tennis Center. The Penguins did not
allow Robert Morris to win a single
match in the victory.
YSU swept the doubles competition to take early 1-0 lead
against the Colonials. At No.
2 doubles senior Gina Peretti played
with freshman Kelly Culbertson for
the first time this season picking
up the 8-1 win. Emily Thayer and
teammate Michelle Fuleky picked up
the impressive 8-0 win over Kali
Delorie and Libby Shaw. Also playing
together at doubles for the first
time this season was Irena Lanc and
Tanisha Welch. The pair earned an
8-1 victory over Hilary Newman and
Shelby Schmidt.
Fulkey,
Thayer, Welch and Lanc all swept
their singles matches 6-0. Peretti
walked away with the 6-4, 6-1 win
over Delorie and Culbertson picked
up her 6-2, 6-2 win at No. 5 singles
against Schmidt.
The women's tennis team will
play again on Saturday at the
Boardman Tennis Center against
Horizon League foe UIC. Match time
is set for 5 p.m. |
