Tanisha Welch Picks up Penguins Point in 6-1 loss to UIC

 Boardman, Ohio-- The Youngstown State women's tennis team hosted Horizon League opponent UIC on Saturday evening at the Boardman Tennis Center. The Flames swept the doubles competition and went on to win five of the six singles matches in the 6-1 loss. At  No. 4 singles Tanisha Welch beat Christina Oum, 1-6, 7-6, 8-6 in the third set tie-breaker to give YSU the only point of the night.

    In other singles action, No. 1 Callan Smith beat Michelle Fuleky, 6-2, 6-3. No 2  Lubica Nadasska defeated Gina Peretti, 6-1, 6-3. No 3  Grace Gil-Morlis edged Emily Thayer, 6-0, 6-2. No. 5 Kelly Culbertson lost to UIC's Jenna Reisch 6-2, 6-1 and No. 6 Amy Jellish beat Irena Lanc  6-1, 6-0.
   
The women's tennis team will play again on Monday morning as they travel Eastern Michigan. Match time is set for 10 a.m.
