Slips by Women's Tennis, 4-3
Milwaukee,
Wis..-- The
Youngstown State women's tennis team lost
a close match to Horizon League
opponent UW-Milwaukee on Saturday
morning at North Shore Elite Tennis
Complex. The Penguins won three of
the singles matches and at No. 1
doubles against the Panthers but
unfortunately lost crucial points
due to an injury.
Michelle Fuleky and Gina
Peretti came out strong at No. 1
doubles beating Kelly Drvaric
and Kari Kastenholtz, 8-1 while
Tanisha Welch and Kelly Culbertson
lost at the No. 2 spot. Milwaukee
ultimately picked up the doubles
point due to YSU defaulting the No.
3 spot.
At No
2
singles,
Peretti also won her match
6-3, 6-4 against Kastenholtz.
Welch picked up her 6-0, 6-2 win
over Traci Litscher. Irena Lanc
won her match over Lauren Fenley at
the No. 5 spot. Milwaukee only won
the No. 1 and 4 spots, but picked up the
default point at No. 6 singles to
give the team the 4-3 advantage over
YSU.
The Guins will be set
for more league action tomorrow
morning as they face UW-Green Bay at
10 a.m. |
