Men's Tennis
Wins Doubles Point against No. 3
Seed UIC
Indianapolis, Ind.-- The
Youngstown State men's tennis team
lost 4-2 to UIC in the the
Horizon League Championships on
Saturday afternoon in Indianapolis.
YSU won the doubles point and Senior
Brian Meek picked up the win at No.
3 singles.
Scott Kathary
and Tom Barth teamed up at No. 1
singles to win 9-7. The victory
marks the pairs ninth overall win
for the season at doubles. Jason and
Ryan Trapp secured the doubles point
with their
9-8(5) win over
Adriano
Liccardo and
Bastian Harbo.
In singles action, No. 3
Brian
Meek helped to even the score by
defeating Adriano
Liccardo.
Meek extended his match to three
sets with the final score of 3-6,
6-4, 6-3. Kathary also
extended his match to three sets in
the No. 1 spot, but lost
7-5, 1-6, 7-5 to Sebastian
Lystad.
UIC picked up the wins at No. 1, 2,
4 and 5 singles while No. 6 Maurice
Rucker and Tim O'Brein did not
finish their match.
The men's team will face No. 5 UW-Green
Bay in the second round of the
championship. The match is set to be
played later this evening.
