Men's Tennis
Handles Robert Morris, 7-0
Youngstown -- The
Youngstown State men's tennis team
swept the doubles and the singles
competition in the 7-0 win over
Robert Morris on Sunday morning at
the Boardman Tennis Center.
Freshmen Maurice Rucker and Chris Leson played at No. 3
doubles for the first time this
season picking up the win. The pair
defeated David Yokitis and Cyrus
Manouchehrian 8-4. Rucker went on to
beat Yokitis in an exhibition
singles match 8-4 while Jason Trapp
defeated Manouchehrian at No. 6
singles, 6-2, 6-2.
In other singles play,Tom Barth played at No. 1 singles to
beat David Pinto 7-5, 6-3. No. 2
Scott Kathary defeated Sean Curley
7-5, 6-0. No. 3 Diego Cerzosimo
knocked off Nick Paganetti in
the third set tie-breaker, 4-6, 6-2,
6-1 and No. 5 Ryan Trapp downed
Thomas Delorie 6-3, 6-3.
At No. 1 doubles, Kathary and Barth defeated Delorie and
Pinto 8-4 and No. 2 Trapp and Trapp
beat Curley and Paganetti 8-6.
The men's
tennis team will open Horizon League
play against Cleveland State on
Friday night at the Boardman Tennis
Center. Match time is set for 6 p.m. |
