Men's
Tennis Drops 7-0 Decision to
Nationally Ranked Stetson
Sanford, Fl. -- The Youngstown State men's tennis team lost to
Stetson 7-0 on Wednesday evening in
the last match of the spring break
trip. Stetson is ranked 72nd in the
nation for its men's tennis program.
The Penguins won three of the four
matches played on the trip improving
the overall spring record to 4-6.
In singles action
No 1. Hicham Laalej defeated Tom
Barth, 6-3, 6-2. No. 2 Filip Kricka
beat Scott Kathary, 6-2, 6-3. No. 3
Daniel Stamp knocked off Diego
Cerzosimo, 6-0, 7-6. No. 4 Peter
Dzuba beat Brian Meek, 6-0, 6-1. No.
5 Trevor Bach edged Ryan Trapp, 6-1,
6-3 while No. 6 Bret Feldman slipped
by Jason Trapp, 7-5, 3-6, 10-3.
At doubles, No.
1 Joey Jones and Serguei Boulanov
teamed up to beat Barth and Kathary,
8-5. No. 2 Feldman and Kricka
defeated Trapp and Trapp, 8-3.
Finally, No. 3 Dzuba and Stamp beat
Meek and Cerzosimo, 8-3.
They men's tennis team will play at
home against Robert Morris on Sunday
