UIC Stops Men's
Tennis, 7-0
Youngstown-- The
Youngstown State men's tennis team
hosted Horizon League opponent UIC
at the YSU tennis courts on Saturday
morning. The Penguins won one of the
doubles matches but could not pick
up any of the wins at singles
against the Flames in the 7-0 loss.
Jason and Ryan Trapp picked up the win at No. 3 doubles
for the YSU. The pair defeated
Sam Sweeney and Sean Kreymborg, 8-3.
Scott Kathary and Tom Barth played
at No. 1 doubles but lost 6-8 to
Andy Lockhart and Sebastian Lystad.
Brian Meek and Diego Cerzosimo also
lost their match 6-8 in the
No. 2 spot. In
singles, Kathary faced off
with Lystad in a three match dual
that UIC won 6-4, 1-6, 2-6. Freshman
Maurice Rucker was the last team
member to finish his match. Rucker's
match also lasted three sets with
UIC picking up the 6-4, 0-6, 3-6
win. The men's
tennis team will conclude the
regular season on Sunday morning as
they face Butler at 10 a.m. at the
YSU tennis courts. The team
will also be honoring seniors Brian
Meek and Tom Barth before the match
begins. |
