Tennis Drops Match to Duquesne, 7-0

The
men's tennis team traveled to Club 4
Life on Tuesday afternoon to take on
Duquesne in the second match of the
season. The Dukes swept the Penguins
in both the singles and the doubles
competition. With the 7-0 win,
Duquesne improves to 8-2 while YSU
falls to 1-1.
Senior Scott Kathary won his first
set 6-4 over Alex Mast, but dropped
the match 7-5, 1-0 (8). Ryan Trapp
played at No. 2 singles falling 7-5,
6-4 to Zach Skorupka. In the No. 3
spot Diego Cerzosimo lost 6-2, 6-3.
Mikhael Rasner beat Maurice Rucker
6-3, 6-0 in the No. 4 spot. Chris
Leson lost to Gustavo Villares 6-3,
6-2 while Zach Langraf fell 6-0, 6-1
in the No. 6 spot.
In doubles action, Kathary and Trapp
teamed up to play Ortega and Rasner.
The duo lost 9-8 (7) to Duquesne.
Cerzosimo and Leson played at No. 2
and Rucker and Langraf battled at
No. 3. Both pairs lost 8-1.
The Penguins will be back in action
on Saturday to face IUPUI on the
road. Match time is set for 6 p.m. |
