Men's Tennis
Edges Northwood University, 5-4

The Youngstown State men's tennis
team concluded its spring break trip
with a 5-4 victory over Northwood
University on Thursday afternoon.
The Penguins claimed the doubles
points and won three of the singles
matches against the Seahawks.
Lower division scoring was used in
the match.
Scott Kathary
and Ryan Trapp won their match at
No. 1 doubles 8-1. Diego Cerzosimo
and Chris Leson helped secure the
doubles points with their 8-1 win at
the No. 2 spot.
YSU entered
singles play with the lead. Kathary
added to the Penguins score with this
8-3 victory over Gabriel Cernea.
Trapp won at No. 2 singles by
beating Andreas Parschau 9-8 (7-5)
in the tie-breaker. Cerzosimo also
won his match at No. 3, 8-6. The
Seahawks picked up wins at No. 4, 5
and 6 singles, but YSU had the 5-4
advantage with the doubles points.
The men's
tennis match against Robert Morris
on Saturday will be rescheduled for
a later date The team
will resume play against IPFW on
Sunday morning at 9:00 a.m. at the
Boardman Tennis Center. |
