Tennis Defeats St.
Francis (Pa.) 6-1 in Spring

The
men's tennis team hosted St Francis
(Pa.) on Saturday evening in the
first match of the season. The
Penguins picked up the doubles point
and went on to win five of the six
singles matches in the 6-1 victory.
Seniors Ryan Trapp and Scott Kathary
teamed up at No. 1 doubles to beat
Andre Sandu and Jeff Seevers, 8-2.
Zach Landraf and Chris Leson also
won their doubles match 8-6.
In singles action, Kathary and Diego
Cerzosimo both extended their
matches to three sets. Kathary won
by of score of 7-6 (3), 6-7 (3), 6-1
in the No. 1 spot. Cerzosimo earned
his victory by beating Stephen
Kowalski 6-7 (8), 6-4, 6-2.
Senior Ryan Trapp won at the No. 2
spot 6-1, 6-2. Maurice Rucker downed
Ajay Nune 6-2, 6-1 and Chris Leson
beat Jordan Kowalski, 6-2, 6-4.
St. Francis (Pa.) only wins came
with Kyle Primeau's 6-7(1), 1-6 win
over Zandgraf and Nune and Kirby's
9-7 victory at No. 2 doubles over
Cerzosimo and Rucker.
The men's tennis team will play
again on February 12 as it travels
to Pittsburgh to take on Duquesne at
6 p.m.
