Women's Tennis
Drops Match to Akron, 4-2
Boardman -
The women's tennis team lost to the
University of Akron, 4-2, on Friday
afternoon at the Boardman Tennis
Center. The Penguins picked up two
wins at singles, but did not play
doubles due to inclement weather
conditions.
Senior Emily
Thayer and freshman Hannah Patten
each won their singles matches.
Thayer defeated Lindsey Berry 6-2,
6-2 in the No. 4 spot. Patten
extended her match to three sets
winning 6-4, 1-6, 6-0 at No. 6. Anna
Volvoka and Tanisha Welch also
played to three sets, but could not
secure the wins. Volkova fell 6-2,
4-6, 6-4 to Tanyaradzwa Gombera
while Welch lost 6-7 (4), 6-4, 6-3
to Amy Sherlock.
The
women's tennis team will next travel
to Hutchinson, Fl. for its spring
break matches. The Penguins will
first face nationally ranked No. 8
Nova Southeastern University on
Sunday at 2:00 p.m. |
