Ball State Beats Women's Tennis, 6-1

   Muncie, Ind. - The Youngstown State Women's tennis team traveled to the Muncie YWCA Tennis Center to face Ball State on Saturday afternoon. Anna Volkova picked up a win at No. 1 singles, but the Cardinals swept the rest of the singles matches and earned the doubles point in the 6-1 victory.

    Volkova has won her last four singles matches at the No. 1 spot. Her 6-1, 6-1 victory over Sophie Quist gave the team its only point in the match. Senior Emily Thayer lost a close match to Haly Calderwood, 6-1, 7-6 and then 7-5 in the tiebreaker set.

    In doubles, Thayer also dropped a close match with teammate Kelly Culbertson. The duo teamed up to face Quist and Georgina Thomson in the No. 2 spot falling 9-8 (7-5).

    The Penguins will remain in Indiana to face Horizon League foe Butler on Sunday morning at 10 a.m.
