Women's Tennis: Volkova Takes 2nd Place in Flight
Match 1 of BGSU Invitational
Bowling Green, Ohio. -- The Youngstown State women's tennis team opened its
2007 fall season at the Bowling
Green Invitational. Other teams
competing included Akron,
Bradley, Toledo and Xavier along
with Horizon League opponents
Cleveland State and Detroit. No team
scores were kept in the two day
event.
For YSU, Marshall transfer
Anna Volkova won second place in the
Flight Match 1. Volkova defeated
BGSU'S Kelsey Jakupcin 6-7 (9-11),
6-1, 1-0 (11-9) and Bradley's Emily
Regenold
6-0, 6-3.
Volkova dropped the championship
match to Martina Wodzinski of
Toledo finishing second place in the
flight match.
In
other singles action, Tanisha Welch
and Irena Lanc each finished fourth
place in their singles matches.
Welch played in the Flight Match
No.3 while Lance competed in the No.
4 flight spot.
The women's
tennis team will play the next fall
invitational at Toledo on October
13-14. |
