Leson Picks Up
Point for YSU in 6-1 Loss to
Cleveland State
Boardman, Ohio -- The YSU men's tennis team host
league opponent and the 2008 Horizon
League Tennis Champions, Cleveland
State on Sunday morning at the
Boardman Tennis Center. Chris Leson
won his match at No. 6 singles to
give YSU its only point in the 6-1
loss.
Steve D'Angelo and Robert Emig also
teamed up at No. 3 doubles to win
their match by a score of 8-4. The
Vikings won the other two matches by
scores of 8-3 and 8-1 to claim the
doubles point.
In singles action, Leson won his
match by a score of 7-5, 1-6, 10-0.
Patrick Hamning extended his match
to three sets but fell 6-3, 3-6, 10-
at No. 3. Tariq Ismail played at No.
1 dropping the match 6-0, 6-1.
Michael Kathary lost his match at
No. 2, by a score of 6-2, 7-6 (7-2).
Emig and D'Angelo lost their matches
in the No.4 and 5 spots by scores of
6-3, 6-2 and 6-1, 6-1.
The men's tennis team will play next
over spring break as it travels to
the windy city to face Chicago State
on March 9. Match time is still to
be announced. |
