Picks Up 5-2 Win over Niagara
Niagara,
N.Y.-- The men's tennis team won the
doubles point and four singles
matches to beat Niagara 5-2 on
Sunday morning at the Niagara Tennis
Facility. The Penguins overall
record now improves to 2-4.
The Penguins picked up the early
doubles point by winning two of the
three matches. Freshmen Patrick Hamning and Michael Kathary teamed
up at the No. 2 spot to defeat Steve
Kopf and Joe Heckley, 9-7. Robert
Emig and Steve D'Angelo also won
their match at No. 3 by a score of
8-2.
In singles action, No. 1 Michael Kathary defeated Roman Silin, 7-6
(2), 6-1. Tariq Ismail beat Joseph
Zelic 6-2, 6-4. No. 4 Steve D'Angelo
won his match by a score of 6-1, 6-1
at No. 4 and Robert Emig won his
match in the third set tiebreaker,
1-6, 6-3, 10-5.
The men will play next on February
22 at IPFW. Match time is set for 8
a.m.
