Ismail Picks Up
Point for Men's Tennis in 6-1
Loss to St. Bonaventure
Boardman -- The men's tennis team hosted St.
Bonaventure in the first home match
of the spring season on Saturday
evening at the Boardman Tennis
Center. Tariq Ismail won his match
at No. 2 singles to give YSU its
only point in the 6-1 loss.
At
doubles, Patrick Hamning and Michael
Kathary teamed up in the No. 2 spot
to win 8-3 over Jonathan Luce and
Diego Valdenegro. The Bonnies won
the No. 1 and 3 spot to earn the
doubles point.
In singles action, Ismail battled
with Chris Post to three sets for
his win. Ismail won the first set
6-4, but Post came back in the
second to also win 6-4. Ismail
triumphed 10-8 in the third.
Kathary also battled to three sets
with Leo Michizuki before
falling 1-6, 6-3, 2-6 in the No. 1
spot. Hamning lost 1-6, 1-6 at No.
2. Steve D'Angelo fell 1-6, 3-6 in
the 4th slot. Robert Emig lost 6-7
(1-7), 2-6 and Chris Leson dropped
his match 1-6, 1-6.
The men's
tennis team will be back in action
on Saturday against Buffalo on the
road. Match time is set for 10 a.m. |
