Men's Tennis Picks Up 5-2 Win Against Saint Francis (Pa.)

    Youngstown -- The YSU men's tennis swept St. Francis (Pa.) in doubles and won four of the six singles matches to earn the 5-2 win on Sunday afternoon at the YSU tennis courts.

    At No. 1 singles Patrick Hamning won his match, 7-5, 6-1 over Steve Kowalski. Michael Kathary played in the No. 1 spot beating ,Andrei Sandu 6-3, 6-4. Robert Emig downed Jordan Kowalski 6-0, 6-4 at No. 3 and Chris Leson won his match in the No. 5 spot  by a score of 7-5, 4-6 (10-5).

    In doubles action, Leson and Emig teammed up to win 8-5 in the No. 1 spot. Kathary and Micheal D'Angelo also won by a score of 8-5 at No. 2 and Hamning and Brian Cary defeated David Kirby and Stephen Child, 8-2.

    The men's tennis team will play again at the Valpo Invitational on Sept. 26-27.
