Cloern Picks Up
Wins at Singles and Doubles in YSU's
6-1 Loss to Akron
Akron,
Ohio -- The women's tennis team
faced the University of Akron on
Saturday afternoon dropping the
match 6-1 to the Zips. Freshman
Gretchen Cloern picked up YSU's only
point in the match with her win at
No. 5 singles.
Cloern's victory
came over Lindsey Berry as she won
7-5, 7-6 (3).Cloern also teamed up
with Sarah Lynch at No. 3 doubles to
beat Berry and Jeremie Benjamin 8-7
(3). The Zips won the other two
doubles matches by a score of 8-3
and 8-1.
In other
singles, Lynch fell 6-1,6-2 in the
No. 1 spot. Lauren Hankle lost her
match at No. 2, 6-3, 6-1. Anna
Volkova dropped her match 7-5, 6-3.
Tanisha Welch lost 6-1, 6-2 at No. 4
and Nicole Haralambopoulos gave up a
6-1, 6-1 decision at No. 6.
The Penguins
will travel to Robert Morris the
week of spring break to face the
Colonials on March 14 at at Noon. |
