Women's Tennis
Drops Close Match to Cleveland
State, 4-3
Boardman, Ohio --
The Youngstown State women's tennis
picked up three wins at singles, but
dropped the doubles point to
Cleveland State as it lost 4-3 on
Friday evening at the Boardman
Tennis Center. Anna Volkova, Lauren
Hankle and Gretchen Cloern each won
their singles match.
Hankle played
at No. 2 beating Melissa Holzinger
6-2, 6-1. Volkova won in the No. 3
spot by a score of 6-1, 6-2 and
Cloern picked up her win in dramatic
fashion,4-6, 7-6 (7), (6).
Cloern also
teamed up with Sarah Lynch at No. 1
doubles winning 8-6 over Charlotte
Gibbons and Catrine Bjerrehus.
The Vikings won at No. 2 and 3
and to take the early lead and was
able to secure the win with the
three singles points.
The Penguins
will host Valpo Sunday morning at
the Boardman Tennis Center. March
time is set for 8 a.m.
