Detroit Gets Past Women's Tennis, 5-2

     Boardman, Ohio -- The women's tennis team lost a Horizon League match to Detroit on Friday afternoon at the Boardman Tennis Center. For the second time this week Anna Volkova and Tanisha Welch picked up the Penguins two points. Volkova won her match 6-3, 6-3 at No. 2 while Welch was the last to finish her match winning by a score of 2-6, 7-6 (2), (5).

    Gretchen Cloern and Sarah Lynch also won their doubles match at No. 2  by a score of 8-6. The Titans picked up the wins at  No. 1 and 3 by the scores of 8-2 and 8-4 to claim the early doubles point.

    At singles, Lauren Hankle and Cloern both extended their matches to three sets, but could not pick up the win. Hankle lost in the No. 1 spot by a score of 6-2, 4-6, 6-1 and Cloern fell in the fifth slot 6-3, 4-6, 6-2.

    The women's tennis will play again against Duquesne on Tuesday at Noon at the Boardman Tennis Center.
