Strong Play at
Singles Lifts Women's Tennis Past
Duquesne, 4-3
Boardman, Ohio--
The
women's tennis team picked up its
fifth win of the season by defeating
Duquesne 4-3 on Wednesday
afternoon at the Boardman Tennis
Center. Despite dropping the doubles
point to the Dukes the Penguins came
back at singles to win four matches
and pick up the victory.
Tanisha Welch won her third match
straight match at No. 4 singles by
defeating Samantha Noble, 6-4, 6-4.
Gretchen Cloern picked up the Guins
second point with her 6-2, 7-5 in
the fifth spot. Sarah Lynch also won
her match by a score of 7-5, 6-1 at
No. 1 and Lauren Hankle secured the
win by defeating Rachel McGowan 7-6
(1), 6-4 giving YSU the 4-3
advantage.
The women's tennis will host Horizon
League opponent Cleveland State on
Friday night at 6 p.m. at the
Boardman Tennis Center.
