Women's Tennis
Advances Past Cleveland State 4-3 in
HL Championships
Indianapolis,
Ind. --
The women's tennis team beat the No.
4 seed Cleveland State to continue
playing for the championship
title. The Penguins dropped the
doubles point, but strong singles
play helped lift the team past the
Vikings by a score of 4-3. The women
will next face No. 1 UIC at 2 p.m.
Cleveland
State won at No. 2 and 3 doubles to
enter singles play with the early
lead, but YSU came back to win four
singles matches. Sarah Lynch
defeated Catrine Bjerrehus 6-2, 6-1.
Lauren Hankle picked up her win in
the No. 2 spot by a score of 6-3,
6-3. Tanisha Welch won her match in
three sets 6-0, 2-6, 6-3 and
Gretchen Cloern downed Sandra
Bjeland 6-4, 6-1. |
