Lynch, Volkova Pick Up Singles Victories at ITA Midwest Regional

  Ann Arbor, Mich. -- Anna Volkova and Sarah Lynch each earned a win at singles at the ITA Midwest Regionals on Thursday afternoon. Volkova defeated Martina Schnapp from Northern Ilinois, 6-1, 6-1. Lynch battled with Mariam Westerlink from Eastern Michigan to three sets winning 4-6, 6-2, 7-5.

    Volkova and Lynch both dropped their matches in the first round. Volkova fell 1-6, 6-4, 6-3 to Britney Larson of Miami of Ohio while Lynch lost 6-3, 6-2 to Nitooli Wilkins of Minnesota.

    Volkova and Tanisha Welch will also team-up to play in the doubles part of the tournament.
