54th-Ranked Western
Michigan Gets Past Women’s Tennis,
7-0
Kalamazoo, Mich. --The
women’s tennis team faced
nationally-ranked Western Michigan
on Saturday evening at the Western
Hills Athletic Club. The Broncos won
the doubles point and went on to
sweep the singles matches and
improve in an overall record of 3-1.
Sarah Lynch played at No. 1 singles
falling 6-0, 6-2 to Kristen Pahl.
Lauren Hankel dropped her match in
the No. 2 spot 6-4, 6-4 to Emily
Dudzik. Anna Volkova played at No. 3
losing 6-2, 6-0. Tanisha Welch lost
her match in the No. 4 slot 6-1,
6-0. Gretchen Cloern fell 6-1, 7-5
and Irena Lanc dropped her match
6-1, 6-1 to Rachel Denny.
The Broncos won No. 1 and 2 doubles
by a score of 8-0 and No. 3 doubles
8-1.
The Penguins will be back in action
on Feb.7 to open Horizon League
play against Wright State in Dayton,
Ohio. |
