Brent Shelby Joins Coaching Staff as Throws Coach

Youngstown -- Youngstown State track and
field head coach Brian Gorby has announced the addition of Brent
Shelby to the coaching staff beginning with the upcoming 2009-10 season. Shelby
assumes duties as throws coach for the Penguins.
Prior to joining the YSU program, Shelby was a five-year
thrower at Kent State and was the throws coach at Pittsburgh for the 2008-09 season.

Youngstown --
Youngstown State sophomore track and field member Lyndsie Hall (Boardman, Ohio)
has been appointed by Ohio Gov. Ted Strickland as a student representative to
the YSU Board of Trustees.
Hall, who is a sophomore thrower on the Penguins, is the
first student-athlete to be named to this position.

Title

Youngstown -- The 2009-10 Youngstown State Track
and Field 2009-2010 recruiting class welcomes 13 new student-athletes to the program
and consists of eight females and five males.
The class also
includes three local athletes, four more
from the state of Ohio, a
Pennsylvanian, a Wisconsin native, one from Canada and three Kenyans.

New Orleans -- Youngstown State senior thrower Aaron Merrill (Leetonia, Ohio) was named to the U.S.
Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association men’s 2009 Division
I All-Academic Track and Field team, the organization announced
recently. A record total of 327 student-athletes representing 107
Division I institutions made up the men’s 2009 All-Academic team.

Indianapolis, Ind. -- Eight
Youngstown State track & field student athletes were voted to the 2009 Spring Academic
All-Horizon League teams. Adam Kagarise, Joe Lahmon, Aaron Merrill and J.D. Sheppard
were all repeat honorees on the men's team, and Alisha Anthony was a repeat selection
for the women. Anthony was joined by Lauren Blase, Jen Grayson and Kayla Witmer on the
