Griffith Finishes 20th at USATF Junior Outdoor

Eugene, Ore. -- Youngstown State freshman thrower
Kaitlyn Griffith claimed 20th in the hammer throw at the USA Junior Outdoor
Track and Field Championships at Hayward Field located on the campus of the
University of Oregon.
Griffith threw the hammer a distance of 45.89m (150-7 ).

Youngstown -- Aaron Merrill was named third-team
ESPN The Magazine/CoSIDA Academic All-American, the College Sports Information
Directors of America organization announced on Thursday. Merrill becomes the
11th YSU student-athlete to garner Academic All-America honors and first since

Youngstown State freshman thrower Kaitlyn Griffith (Orrville, Ohio) will
compete in the Hammer Throw at the 2009 USA Junior Outdoor Track and
Field Championships on Friday at Hayward Field in Eugene at the
University of Oregon. Griffith will compete in Flight 1 along with 12
other competitors. The event is scheduled to start at 5:45 p.m. Eastern

Louisville, Ky. -- Youngstown State freshman Kiplangat Tisia
wrapped up a spectacular freshman season with a 15th place finish in the 3,000-meter
steeplechase on Saturday
at the 2009 NCAA Mideast Regional.
Tisia led the event after the one mile mark, but could not
hold onto the lead and finished with a time of 9:07.63. Release |

| Merrill Headlines Three Penguins
Named Academic All-District IV |

Thrower Aaron Merrill
(Leetonia, Ohio) headlined three Youngstown State track and field
athletes who were named CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District
IV on Thursday. Earning second-team Academic All-District honors was
thrower Joe Lahmon (Mount Vernon, Ohio) while distance runner Lauren
Blase (Boardman, Ohio) was a third-team selection.
