Michaelis Named Indoor Athlete of the Year
    Indianapolis, Ind. --
Kurt Michaelis added another accomplishment to his already outstanding senior indoor campaign when the Horizon League announced that the Toledo native is the league's inaugural Indoor Track and Field Athlete of the Year on Thursday afternoon.
Michaelis, who became YSU's first Division I All-American at the NCAA Championships on March 15, had one of the best seasons in YSU history.  Besides finishing the season as the ninth-best mile runner in the nation, Michaelis was instrumental in leading YSU to their first Horizon League Championship in any sport and was named League Athlete of the Week for three straight weeks.  He also set the school record in the mile (4:02.71) and the 1,000-meter run (2:28.23) and finished with the top time recorded in the league in both the 800 and the mile.
