Bolt, Gillespie Have Second Straight Record-Breaking Meet
Akron, Ohio -- Sophomore
sprinter Danielle Bolt won the
60-meter dash in a school-record
time of 7.56 seconds at the Akron
Open on Saturday at UA's Athletics
Field House.
Bolt added ran a personal-best time of 25.05 in the 200 to
place second while Aaliyah Gillespie
also set a school record in the
60-meter hurdles with a mark of
8.60.
Jeanna Cunningham placed fourth in the 400 with a
personal-best time of 57.37 and
Gillespie added a fifth-place spot
in the 60 dash in 7.85. Cunningham
and Gillespie then teamed up with
Yandeh Joh and Bolt to place fourth
in the 4x400-meter relay.
In the jumping events, Carly Youlton placed sixth in the
triple jump (37-1) and sixth in the
long jump (17-2 1/4) while Joh
placed fifth in the long jump (17-5
1/2). Bethany Anderson took second
in the weight throw with a
personal-best mark of 51-11 and
added a third-place finish in the
invitational shot put with a mark of
43-9 3/4. Lindsey Hill placed third
in the shot put with a mark of 41-7
3/4 while Amy Hill placed fourth
with a heave of 41-4 1/4. Katy
Williams placed third in the weight
throw (51-5 3/4) while Amy Hill was
seventh (46-8 1/4) and Lindsay Cobey
was ninth (43-11 3/4).
On the men's side, Jeremy Riehm placed third in the 5,000
with a personal-best mark of
14:56.60 while R.D. Goodright placed
seventh in the mile in 4:22.33.
Scott Streiner placed 10th in the
200 in 22.60.
Jason Greenamyer placed sixth in the long jump (21-3 1/2) and
seventh in the high jump to
highlight the jumping events.
Drew Weizer placed fifth in the weight throw with a mark of
54-11 1/4 while Nick Rodland was
11th in the shot put (46-2 1/2) and
Joe Lahmon was 12th in the weight
throw (47-6 1/4).
The Penguins will compete in the All-Ohio Championship on
Saturday. |
