Weizer Breaks YSU Weight Throw Record at Robert Morris
Moon Township, Pa. -- Youngstown State
sophomore Drew Weizer broke the
school record in the weight throw
with a mark of 55 feet, 9 inches at
the Western Pa. Intercollegiate
Indoor Championships on Sunday at
Robert Morris.
Weizer's first-place throw surpassed Jarrod Davis' mark of
54-10 1/4 that was set on Feb. 21,
2004.
Jason Greenamyer won the 500-meters with a time of 1:10.0 and
placed third in the 55-meter hurdles
with a time of 8.12 seconds. R.D.
Goodright also picked up a win in
the 1,000 by clocking in with a time
of 2:35.
In the sprints, Scott Weiser placed second in the 400 with a
time of 51.66 while Scott Streiner
was third in the 200 with a time of
23.38.
Jeremy Riehm took third in the 3,000 with a time of 9:18.4 to
lead the distance group while Matt
Paullin, Nick Smith and Dave Mealy
occupied the fourth through sixth
places in the event.
In the throws, Donny Hull placed fourth in the shot put with
a heave of 45-2 while Nick Rodland
was fifth with a mark of 44-7. Joe
Lahmon added a fifth-place finish in
the weight throw with a toss of 46-4
3/4.
Derek Riker highlighted the field events with a second-place
finish in the pole vault with a mark
of 14-6.
The Penguins will compete in the Akron Invitational on Feb.
