Lewis, Men's Distance Medley Relay Break School Records at Penn State
University Park, Pa. -- The men's
distance medley relay of sophomore
R.D. Goodright and freshmen J.D.
Sheppard, DaMichael Horne and Harold
Jones broke an eight-year-old school
record at the Sykes-Sobock Challenge
Cup over the weekend.
The group ran a time of 10:08.92 to break the old record
by 1.3 seconds and place fifth. The
previous record-holding relay
included national qualifiers Kofi
Owusu-Ansah and Paul Carter.
Senior Adam Lewis also broke his own record in the 60m
hurdles with a time of 8.40.
Jarrod Davis was the highest individual finisher for the
Penguins with a ninth-place mark of
59-5 1/2 in the weight throw. Aaron
Merrill added a 10th-place finish in
the shot put with a heave of 52-0.
In the sprints, Jeremiah Wright ran a personal-best time of
7.05 in the 60m dash in his first
meet of the season while Damian
Wright ran a personal-best time of
22.10 in the 200m. Dave Mealy added
a personal-best 8:52.15 in the
3,000m.
Jen Grayson tied her season-best mark in the high jump at 5-5
to place seventh and be the top
finisher for the women's squad.
Bethany Anderson finished eighth in
the weight throw (56-0) and ninth in
the shot put (44-3 1/4).
Grayson added a personal-best time of 9.14 in the 60m hurdles
while Darcelle Formby ran a
personal-best time of 25.80 in the
200m. Yandeh Joh ran a personal-best
time of 58.51 in the 400m, and
Lindsay Cobey posted a personal-best
mark of 47-10 in the weight throw.
The Penguins will compete at the Kent State Tune Up on
Saturday. |
