Anderson Earns Second Straight Horizon League Honor

Youngstown -- Youngstown State junior thrower Bethany Anderson has been honored as the Horizon League Female Athlete of the Week for the second straight week and third time this season.
Anderson provisionally qualified for the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championship in the weigh throw and set YSU's school record for the third consecutive week at the Kent State Tune-Up on Saturday.
She posted a distance of 63 feet, 7 inches to become the first female thrower in school history to provisionally qualify for nationals. Anderson currently ranks 23rd in Division I but needs to finish in the top 16 to earn a spot in the field.
Anderson's record-setting performance came one week before the Horizon League Championship. She currently holds to top weight throw mark in the Horizon League by nearly 13 feet, and she ranks second in the shot put. The Jamestown, N.Y., native swept the throwing events last season and won the shot put as a freshman.
