Anderson Breaks
Weight Throw Record at Doug Raymond
Invitational
Kent, Ohio -- Youngstown
State junior Bethany Anderson broke
her own school record and won the
weight throw Saturday at the Doug
Raymond Invitational.
Anderson posted a mark of 58-8 3/4 to eclipse her previous
record by four inches as the
Penguins competed in their first
meet of 2007.
Freshman Alisha Anthony finished second in the long jump with
a mark of 18-1 3/4, and Jen Grayson
placed second in the high jump with
a mark of 5-5. Marielle Glanz added
a second-place finish in the 5,000m
with a time of 19:32.76.
Nick Kruse was the top finisher for the men's squad, posting
a second-place time of 14:29.55 in
the 5,000m.
Laura Yamsek and Madelyn McGhee finished third and fourth in
the 5,000m while Ashley Oliver
placed fifth in the 60m. Robyn Ray
added a third-place finish in the
triple jump, and the 4x400m relay of
Yandehj Joh, Darcelle Formby, Kari
Kreutzfeld and Jen Roman placed
fourth.
On the men's side, Justin Dickman placed second in the 5,000m
while Dan Nemergut placed sixth.
Harold Jones added a fifth-place
finish in the mile, and the 4x400m
relay of Adam Kagarise, Harold
Jones, Michael Perri and Jerome
Jefferey finished third.
Shayne York placed third in the long jump and fourth in the
triple jump while Michael
Perri placed third in the high jump.
Dom DeFilippo paced the throwers
with a fifth-place effort in the
weight throw.
YSU's men's team will compete Saturday at Baldwin Wallace
while the women's team will compete
at Kent State. |
