800-Meters Victory, Women's 4x400m Highlight

Akron, Ohio -- Harold Jones won the 800m run and
Youngstown State's women's 4x400m relay came from behind to win the final race
of the night at the Akron Quad on Friday evening.
Jones led the entire length and won by nearly two seconds
with his time of 1:55.10. The junior also ran a personal-best time of 4:26.83 in
the mile to place fourth.
The lone victory on the women's side came in the 4x400m relay
as Emily Wollet and Breanne Romeo made up about five meters in the final two
legs to edge Akron by more than two seconds.
Yandeh Joh added a third-place finish in the 60m hurdles with
a time of 9.22.
In the field, Danielle Curry moved into second place on YSU's
all-time list in the shot put with a fourth-place mark of 44-2 1/2. Alexis Hall
placed third in the weight throw (50-5 1/4) while Curry was fifth (49-3 1/2).
Alisha Anthony was fourth in the long jump (18-4 1/4), and Robyn Ray placed
fourth in the triple jump (35-10).
On the men's side, Scott Streiner placed fifth in the 200m
(22.71) while Nick Clowes was fifth in the 60m hurdles (9.42).
Bryin Ehrhardt placed third in the high jump (6-4) and Martin
Vieth was fifth (6-2). Jerrill Hall finished fifth in the long jump (21-0 3/4),
and John Pallini was fifth in the shot put (47-11 3/4). Dom DeFilippo added a
fourth-place effort in the weight throw (51-0 3/4).
The Penguins will compete at Kent State on Friday at 6 p.m. |
