Freshman Breanne Romeo Named League Athlete of the Week

    Indianapolis, Ind. -- Youngstown State freshman sprinter Breanne Romeo has been named the Horizon League Athlete of the Week, the conference office announced Wednesday.
    Romeo, a Boardman native, was recognized for her eye-opening performances at the Golden Flash Gala on Dec. 8.
    In what was her first collegiate meet, Romeo won the 400-meter dash in a time of 56.06. That time ranks as the second-fastest 400m runner in YSU history.
    She also clocked a time of 25.54 to take fifth in the 200m, which ranks fifth on YSU’s career charts.
    Senior sprinter Scott Streiner, a Poland High graduate, was also recognized by the league as one of the top men's performers after winning the 200m at the Gala.
