Penguins Announce 2007-08 Indoor Track and Field Slate
Youngstown -- The Youngstown State track and
field team will compete seven times in northeast Ohio during the 2007-08 indoor
season before hosting the Horizon
League Championships in March, head coach Brian Gorby announced.
The Penguins will begin their indoor campaign on Friday at the Golden Flash Gala at the Kent State Field House, which will also serve as
the venue for the league meet on March 1and 2.
YSU will also compete in Kent, Ohio, on Jan. 18 against Kent
State and Ohio and on Feb. 23 at the Kent State Tune-Up.
The Penguins will also compete at the University of Akron
three times during the year. They will battle Akron, Penn State and Buffalo on
Jan. 11 before participating in the Elite Open on Feb. 1-2 and the "Roo Town" Open
on Feb. 8.
YSU's other meet in northeast Ohio will be Feb. 15 at the
Baldwin-Wallace Mid-February Open.
In non-regional competition, select members of the team will
compete at the New Balance Collegiate Invitational on Feb. 8-9 and the Alex
Wilson Invitational on March 7-8. The NCAA Championship meet will be March
14-15.
YSU also served as the host institution for the Horizon
League Championships in 2006 at the Kent State Field House. Ticket information
and the meet schedule will be released in February. |
