Kagarise and
Tisia Highlight Solid Penguin
Performance at Kent State Meet
Kent, Ohio. -- Junior Adam Kagarise set a
school record in the 400 meters while freshman Kiplangat Tisia claimed two
first-place finishes on Friday at the Kent State Triangluar.
Kagarise's
record-setting, first-place finish
time of 48.06 seconds in the 400m beat the
school-record that stood since 1998.
In addition, Kagarise took second in
the 200m with a time of 22.33
seconds.
Tisia had
victories in both the mile and
3,000 meters. Tisia ran a personal-best
time of 8:26.71 in the 3,000,
beating his previous best by
six seconds. Tisia's first-place
time in the mile was 4:18.35.
Senior
Shayne York and sophomore Jerrill
Hall also had first-place finishes.
York took first place in the
triple jump with a personal-best
distance of 14.05 meters. Hall took first
in the 60m hurdles with a time of
8.30 seconds and claimed second in the long
jump with a distance of 6.95m.
In the head-to-head dual with the Golden Flashes, the
Penguins came up short 83-64.
For the women,
junior Alisha Anthony and sophomore
Breanne Romeo had first-place
finishes.
Anthony took
the top spot in the long jump with a
distance 5.42 meters. Anthony also had a
third-place finish in the 200m with
a time of 26.15 and placed fourth in
the triple jump with a distance of
11.46m.
Romeo earned
the first-place finish in the 400m
with a time of 58.56. Romeo also
teamed up with senior Kari Kreutzfeld and juniors Lisa Lee and
Jen Roman to take third place in the
4x400m relay.
