Tisia and
Kagarise Set School Records at Notre
Dame Invite
South Bend,
Ind. -- Junior Adam Kagarise and
freshman Kiplangat Tisia both set
school records in individuals events
as well as in the distance medley
relay at the two-day Notre Dame Meyo
Invitational on Friday and Saturday.
Kagarise and Tisia along with
seniors Michael Perri and R.D.
Goodright set the school record in
the DMR (Distance Medley Relay) with
a time of 9:58.61, good for third
place at the meet.
Kagarise also beat his previous-best
and school record time in the 400m
by running a time of 47.62m,
finishing fifth.
Tisia won his heat and set the
school-record in the 3,000m with a
time of 8:18.59, finishing 16th
overall. Other
Penguins who had personal-best days
include sophomores Kayla Witmer and
Jake Lape as well as senior J.D.
Sheppard,
Witmer
competed in the 5,000m and ran a
time of 18:04.10, good for fourth in
school history. Lape claimed ninth
all-time in school history after
finishing the 800m with a time of
1:55.56.
Sheppard ran a time of 2:33.45 in
the 1,000m, which now ranks sixth
all-time in school history.
The Penguins will return to action
when they compete in the two-day
Akron Invitational which starts on
Friday. |
