Smith Finishes Second in 1,500 at Ohio State
Columbus, Ohio --
Sophomore Nick Smith finished second
in the 1,500-meter with a time of
3:58.11 to highlight the weekend as
the Youngstown State track and field
team competed at The Ohio State
University's Jesse Owens Track
Classic.
Also in the 1,500, Nick Kruse finished in the sixth spot with
a time of 4:00.80 while Nick Buzek
finished 15th.
In the hurdles, Alvin Shavers finished tenth in the 110-meter
event with a time of 16.24 and 13th
in the 400 with a time of 1:00.08.
In the throwing events, Mike DeToro placed 11th in the
javelin with a distance of 142-01
while Joseph Bruderly finished 14th
in the shot put with a throw of
48-02 3/4.
Ryan Stzalka anchored the sprints with a 13th-place finish in
the 200 with a time of 22.28.
Alex Casi led the women with an 11th-place time of 12.85 in
the 100 and a 20th-place finish in
the 200.
Katy Williams added a 21st-place finish in the discus while
Danielle Sexton finished 26th in the
hammer.
The track and field teams will travel to Indianapolis on
Thursday for the Horizon League
