Davis, Gillespie Set Records at All-Ohio Championship
    Columbus, Ohio -- Junior Jarrod Davis bested his own school record in the hammer and set three more personal bests to lead Youngstown State at the All-Ohio Championship on Saturday at Ohio State.
    Davis threw the hammer 163 feet, 9 inches to improve on the record he set last week to finish ninth.  He also had a career day in the discus (153-1, eighth), javelin (158-5, ninth) and shot put (47-3 1/2, 12th).
    Sophomore Aaliyah Gillespie placed sixth in the 100-meter hurdles with a school-record time of 14.34 seconds to lead the women.

    On the men's side, Papis Joh had a solid day in the sprints with a third-place finish in the 400 (48.91) and an eighth-place spot in the 200 (22.13).  Also in the sprints, Sherod Holmes finished eighth in the 100-meter dash while Scott Weiser plaed ninth in the 200. 
    In the distance events, Kurt Michaelis finished second in the 800-meters with a time of 1:54.35 while Dave Mealy placed third in the 10,000-meters in 32:25.37.  Chris Hine added a fourth-place finish in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a personal-best time of 9:41.97 and a seventh-place finish in the 5,000-meter run.  Nick Kruse placed fifth in the steeplechase.
    Jeanna Cunningham led the women with a third-place finish in the 400-meter dash (56.45) and a ninth-place finish in the 200-meters (24.76).  Both of her times were personal bests.  Danielle Bolt placed seventh in the 100 in a personal-best time of 24.61 while Leslie Johnson finished ninth in the 400 (57.88). 
    Emily Schnitkey finished third in the steeplechase (11:00.33) and fifth in the 1,500 (4:40.90) while Kim Jendre placed third in the 5,000 (18:58.85).  Jenn Wenhold added a fifth-place finish in the 5,000 and Lindsay Wojciak finished seventh in the steeplechase (11:41.33) to round out the distance events.
    In the field, Katy Williams threw the discus a personal-best 147-0 to place fifth while Laura Schatz placed sixth in the high jump with a mark of 5-2 1/4.
    The Penguins will compete at the Penn Relays April 22-24.
