Penguins Open Outdoor Season at Raleigh Relays
Raleigh, N.C. -- Junior
Jeanna Cunningham placed seventh in
the 400-meter dash with a time of
56.59 seconds to highlight
Youngstown State's outdoor season
opener at the Raleigh Relays over
the weekend.
Dave Mealy ran a personal-best time of 31:47.28 in the
10,000-meters to place sixth in the
unseeded race to lead the men.
Also for the women, Kim Jendre placed 11th in the unseeded
5,000 in 19:21.97 while Lisa Davies
placed 14th with a 19:39.49. Bethany
Anderson placed 11th in the shot put
with a mark of 43-6 1/2 while Amy
Hill placed 18th with a heave of
40-6. Katy Williams added a
20th-place spot in the discus
(123-9) while Hill was also 18th in
the hammer (148-4).
On the men's side, Nick Smith placed eighth in the unseeded
5,000 with a time of 15:04.52 while
Nick Buzek was .03 seconds behind to
finish in ninth. R.D. Goodright
added an 18th-place time of 4:02.61
in the unseeded 1,500 competition.
The Penguins will compete this weekend at the Ohio State
Relays before traveling to the Sea
Ray Relays on April 14. YSU will
then compete at the All-Ohio
Championship on April 15, the Penn
Relays on April 28 and the Stanford
Cardinal Qualifier on May 6 to
prepare for the Horizon League
Championship on May 12. The NCAA
Mideast Regional will be held on May
27 while the NCAA Championship will
be on June 8. |
