Freshman Anderson Breaks Throws Records at Sea Ray Invite
Knoxville, Tenn. --
Youngstown State freshman broke two
school throws records to highlight
the Penguins' weekend at the Sea Ray
Relays and the Slippery Rock
Invitational.
Anderson placed third in the hammer with a school-record mark
of 159 feet, 9 inches at the Relays
to top the old record by 7 1/2 feet.
She then broke the 14-year-old shot
put record with an eighth-place
throw of 45-8.
Also on the women's squad, Emily Schnitkey placed ninth in
the steeplechase with a mark of
11:08.10 while Carly Youlton placed
13th in the triple jump (36-4 3/4)
and Katy Williams was 14th in the
discus (137-6). In the sprints,
Danielle Bolt finished 21st in the
100 with a mark of 12.05, Jeanna
Cunningham placed 23 rd in the 400
in 56.16 and Aaliyah Gillespie
placed 27th in the 100 hurdles in
14.64.
Nick Buzek highlighted the men's squad with a fourth-place
time of 14:51.20 while Nick Smith
placed 10th in the steeplechase in
9:44.95. Dave Mealy finished 13th in
the 10,000 with a mark of 32:11.29,
Scott Weiser was 36th in the 400
(49.83) and R.D. Goodright was 36th
in the 800 (1:55.20).
At the SRU Invite, Satara Freeman and Lindsay Wojciak each
took home victories. Freeman won the
100 hurdles in 14.76 and placed
fifth in the 400 hurdles with a time
of 1:07.58 while Wojciak had the top
time in the the steeplechase with a
mark of 12:20.96. Gina Mavrikis
placed second in the 1,500 with a
time of 5:01.04 and fifth in the 800
in 2:23.30. Amanda Barbone placed
fourth in the shot put (38-5 1/2)
and sixth in the shot put (120-11)
while Ashley Oliver was fourth in
the 100 (12.83) and Kim Jendre was
fourth in the 3,000 (11:26.30).
Matt Paullin had the highest finish for the men with a
third-place time of 15:52.28 in the
5,000. Nick Rodland was fourth in
the shot put with a mark of 46-6
while Kyle Dalton placed sixth in
the high jump with a mark of 6-0.
The Penguins will compete in the Northeast Ohio Championship
in Akron on Saturday. |
