Davis Qualifies for NCAA Mideast Regionals at All-Ohio Meet
Columbus, Ohio -- Youngstown State
senior Jarrod Davis qualified for
the NCAA Mideast Regional and broke
the school record in the hammer at
the All-Ohio Championships at Jesse
Owens Stadium.
Davis posted a mark of 189 feet, 9 inches to top his old
school mark by more than 19 feet. He
also finished seventh in the discus
with a mark of 145-9.
Satara Freeman finished third in the 100-meter hurdles with a
time of 14.24 seconds to lead the
women's squad. She added a
ninth-place finish in the 400
hurdles with a time of 1:09.38.
Stephanie Jarvis added a school-record mark of 10-11 3/4 in
the pole vault to finish ninth.
In the sprints, Katie Betts finished eighth in the 200
(24.99) and Danielle Bole placed
ninth in the 100 (12.23).
Jen Grayson placed seventh in the high jump with a mark of
5-1 3/4. Katy Williams had the top
finish in the throws with a
seventh-place spot (133-3), and
Lindsey Hill finished eighth in the
javelin (116-5). Amy Hill finished
ninth in the discus (131-5), and
Bethany Anderson added a ninth-place
finish in the shot put (43-9).
The men got a strong showing from the distance squad with
three top-four finishes. Nick Kruse
placed second in the 5,000 with a
time of 15:05.68 while R.D.
Goodright finished third in the
1,500 in 3:59.40. J.D. Sheppard
finished fourth in the 800 with a
time of 1:57.29.
Scott Streiner finished ninth in the 200 in 22.41, and Damian
Wright finished eighth in the
prelims of the 100 with a time of
10.96.
Aaron Merrill added a seventh-place finish in the shot put
with a mark of 51-2 3/4, and Shayne
York placed 10th in the triple jump
with a mark of 42-2 1/4. |
