Joh Sets 400-Meter Hurdles Record at Northeast Ohio Invite
Akron, Ohio -- Youngstown State
sophomore Yandeh Joh set the school
record in the 400-meter hurdles with
a third-place time of 1:02.47 to
highlight YSU's performances at the
Northeast Ohio Invitational.
Joh added a time of 14.91 in the 100m hurdles, which ranks
fifth in school history and was good
enough for fifth place. Joh's top-10
entries were just two of seven for
the women's squad, and the men's
squad boasted 14 performances that
made the top-10 list.
The women's squad also had 10 top-five finishes at the meet.
In the sprints and hurdles, Satara
Freeman won the 100 hurdles with a
personal-best time of 14.23, and
Jeanna Cunningham finished second in
the 400 with a time of 55.35 and
third in the 200 with a time of
24.80. Danielle Bolt headlined the
100-meter dash with a third-place
time of 12.04 while Katie Betts was
fourth (12.31) and Ashley Oliver was
fifth (12.39). Bolt added a
fifth-place time of 24.91 in the
200.
Lindsey Hill was the top YSU finisher in the throws with a
fifth-place mark of 108-11 in the
javelin. Bethany Anderson placed
sixth in the shot put (45-0 1/2) and
the hammer (169-6), and Amy Hill
placed sixth in the javelin (105-1).
Damian Wright was the top scorer on the men's side with a
second-place and personal-best time
of 21.77 in the 200 and a
fourth-place, personal-best time of
10.84 in the 100. Scott Streiner
placed second in the 400 with a
personal-best time of 49.63, and
R.D. Goodright ran a personal-best
time of 1:53.64 in the 800. Nick
Kruse (3:57.98) and J.D. Sheppard
(3:58.37) finished third and fourth
in the 1,500, and Justin Carolyne
added a fifth-place finish in the
400 hurdles with a time of 55.43.
In the field, Jarrod Davis placed third in the hammer with a
mark of 188-7 and fifth in the
javelin with a mark of 167-10.
Shayne York placed fourth in the
long jump with a mark of 21-1 1/2,
and Aaron Merril finished fifth in
the shot put with a personal-best
mark 51-9 3/4.
The Penguins will send split squads to the Penn Relays and
the Sparky Adams Invitational this
