Derek Riker Named Horizon League Track Athlete of the Week
    Indianapolis -- Youngstown State pole vaulter Derek Riker has been named the Horizon League Men's Track and Field Athlete of the Week for his performance at the Slippery Rock Invitational.
    Riker broke the school record and won the pole vault with a mark of 15 feet, 6 inches on Saturday in his first meet since the 2004-05 indoor season. The previous record of 15-5 was set in 1997 by Jason Pope.
    Also at the SRU Invitational, Stephanie Jarvis set the school record in the women's pole vault
with a mark of 9-6, and Darla Wilson placed fourth in the event with a height of 8-6. Amanda Barbone placed third in the discus (118-4 1/2), fifth in the shot put (34-7) and fifth in the hammer (107-1). Jason Greenamyer placed second in the 110-meter hurdles (15.60) and seventh in the 100-meter dash (11.45).
