Anderson Breaks Hammer Record at Sea Ray Relays
    Knoxville, Tenn. -- Youngstown State sophomore Bethany Anderson broke her own school record in the hammer with a fourth-place mark of 175-1 to highlight YSU's performances at the Sea Ray Relays.
    Senior Dave Mealy was the top men's finisher with a 12th-place time of 15:38.51 in the 5,000-meters.
    Also on the men's side, Jarrod Davis finished 14th in the discus with a personal-best mark of 158-2, and J.D. Sheppard ran a personal-best time of 1:53.43 in the 800 to place 24th and move into fourth-place on YSU's all-time list. Nick Smith (10:11.68) and Nick Kruse (10:20.67) finished 14th and 15th in the steeplechase, and freshman Aaron Merrill finished 15th in the shot put with a personal-best mark of 50-11 1/2. Merrill's heave in the shot put ranks third all-time, and Davis ranks second all-time in the discus.
    On the women's side, Danielle Bolt ran a personal-best time of 12.01 in the 100 to place 31st, and Jeanna Cunningham placed 31st in the 400. Satara Freeman added a 28th-place in the 100 hurdles with a time of 14.47, and
Anderson finished 22nd in the shot put with a mark of 43-4 1/2.
    The Penguins will compete at Akron on Saturday.
