Track Squads Set
21 Personal-Best Marks at Akron
Youngstown --
The Youngstown State track and field
team set 21 personal-best marks and
made 11 new entries to the school's
top-10 list at the Campbell/Wright
Open.
The women's squad had 13 personal-best performances and the
men's group had eight in their final
tune-up for the Horizon League
Championships this weekend.
Darcelle Formby set two personal-best times in the sprints,
including a second-place time of
24.41 in the 200m that ranks her
fifth in YSU history. She also
posted a personal-best time of 12.31
in the 100m that moved her into
eighth-place on YSU's top
performer's chart. Her time in the
200m was more than a second quicker
than her previous best time this
season.
Kari Kreutzfeld used a personal-best time of 56.25 to win the
400m and move into fourth-place on
the top performer's chart. She also
ran a personal-best time of 24.65 in
the 200m to finish sixth.
Jennifer Roman finished third in the 400m with a
personal-best time of 57.91, and
Shantel Jackson added a
personal-best time of 2:18.10 in the
800m to finish fifth.
Marielle Glanz, Madelyn McGhee and Dawn Goodwin all added
to-five finishes in running events.
In the field Robyn Ray finished fifth in the high jump, and
Penguins claimed the fifth through
eighth spots in the shot put.
Bethany Anderson hit the NCAA
Regional qualifying mark again to
place fourth in the hammer (182-6),
and Lindsey Hill finished second in
the javelin.
On the men's side, Scott Streiner ran a personal-best time of
21.39 in the 200m to finish third
and move into third on YSU's
all-time list. He added a
fourth-place time in the 100m to
edge teammate Eric Baltputnis.
J.D. Sheppard headed the middle distance group with a
second-place time of 1:55.91 in the
800m, and Nick Kruse placed third in
the 1,500m with a time of 3:59.35.
Dan Nemergut was second in the 3,00m
(9:11.27) and Sean Finnerty posted a
personal-best time of 9:23.98 to
finish fourth.
Shayne York leaped a personal-best 45-6 1/2 in the triple
jump to place second, and he added a
fourth-place mark in the long jump.
Marty Vieth added a fifth-place mark
in the high jump.
The Penguins will compete at the Horizon League Championships
on Thursday and Friday in
Indianapolis. |
