Aaron Merrill
Named Horizon League Athlete of the
Week
Indianapolis --
Youngstown State sophomore Aaron
Merrill has been named the Horizon
League Men's Track and Field Athlete
of the Week, the league announced
Tuesday.
Merrill, a native of Leetonia, Ohio, hit the NCAA Regional
automatic qualifying standard in the
shot put in YSU's first outdoor meet
of the season.
The sophomore placed second among collegiate throwers and
third overall with his school-record
mark of 55-2 3/4. He joins Jarrod
Davis (2006) and Bethany Anderson
(2007, 2008) as the only throwers in
school history to automatically
qualify for the regional meet.
Merrill was also named the league's athlete of the week
during the 2008 indoor season on
Feb. 20. |
