Lahmon Tabbed
Horizon League Field Athlete of the
Week
Indianapolis, Ind. -- The Horizon League announced
on Wednesday that senior Joe Lahmon (Mount Vernon Ohio) has been named the
Horizon League Men's Field Athlete of the Week following his performance in
Knoxville, Tenn. at the Sea Ray Relays.
At the event,
Lahmon hit the regional mark in the
hammer throw with a distance of
58.23m to finish in first. With the
mark, Lahmon will be making his
second trip to the NCAA Mideast
Regionals, as he also qualified for
the meet during the outdoor season
in 2008.
Lahmon is the
school-record holder in the hammer
throw and has thrown the hammer over
20 feet further than any other
Horizon League competitor during the
outdoor season.
This is the
first time a Penguin has been named
Athlete of the Week during the
outdoor season, but fourth overall,
as Lahmon joins Alisha Anthony,
Kiplangat Tisia, and Adam Kagarise
who were named to this honor during
the indoor season.
The Penguins
will travel to Berea on Saturday to
take part in the Sparky Adams
Invitational. |
